Intercultural Weeks 2025: Celebrate diversity and strengthen cohesion!
Something big will be celebrated in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district next autumn: the Intercultural Weeks 2025 are coming up, and under the promising motto “for it”. From September 6th to the end of October 2025, the region can expect a colorful program with over 20 events organized by clubs, municipalities, religious communities and committed citizens. The opening ceremony will take place on September 6th with the ceremonial raising of the IKW flags at the district houses. Ladadi reports that visitors can look forward to intercultural festivals, readings, discussions, workshops and a musical.
But what is really behind the motto “for”? This carries the message of standing as a strong alliance against intolerance and exclusion and thus promoting an open, diverse society. It is important to create space for dialogue, encounters and reduce prejudices. The aim is to send a strong signal against discrimination and group-related inhumanity and to strengthen social cohesion. Further information can be found here Intercultural week.
Cultural participation and integration
The challenges that society currently has to face include the consequences of pandemics, climate change and migration movements such as Cultural integration initiative points out. This makes it all the more important to make the cultural diversity that characterizes Germany visible. Migration changes the image of society and requires a coexistence characterized by openness, respect and tolerance.
A central point of the Intercultural Weeks will be the commitment to human rights and the humane treatment of everyone. In 2025, particular attention will be paid to promoting constructive democratic politics, which should be seen as a counterpoint to an increasingly right-wing populist mood. Anyone who would like to become active is invited to set individual priorities locally and get involved in solidarity.
Events for everyone
Thanks to a varied program, there will be something for every age group. From language courses to dance workshops to cooking evenings – these hands-on offers promote exciting exchanges. The printed program will be available in town halls and public institutions from mid-August, while the online program is already available at www.ladadi.de/interkulturwochen is available. The Darmstadt-Dieburg district and the Office for Migration and Inclusion are looking forward to organizing this important event together with everyone involved.
The Intercultural Weeks have been an integral part of our society nationwide since 1975 and have also acquired tradition and importance in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district over the years. This event once again sends a visible signal for diversity, cohesion and a vibrant democracy.
