Boy in Dieburg: knife attack by criminals – police ask for help!

A frightening incident occurred last Saturday on a cycle path between Dieburg and Münster. There, a 13-year-old boy was attacked and injured by three attackers. According to the boy's father, who posted about the shocking events on Instagram, his son was threatened with a knife. The perpetrators are also said to have “forcibly tattooed” him with a sharp object, which underlines the monstrosity of the crime. **FFH** reports that a cyclist who happened to be passing by apparently thwarted the attackers' plans by distracting them from the boy and thus enabling the perpetrator to escape.

The police have now taken over the incident to investigate and are looking for the witness on the bike. The search for clues is currently ongoing and the investigation is still in its early stages. The father said on social media that his son was injured after the attack and was struggling with serious mental and physical consequences.

Another violent incident in the region

While fear is rife in Dieburg, another incident in Babenhausen, near Darmstadt-Dieburg, is causing a stir. That same Saturday evening, at 8:30 p.m., an argument broke out between two teenagers after a friendly meeting. A 16-year-old stabbed a 17-year-old in the back, causing serious injuries but fortunately not life-threatening. After receiving emergency medical treatment, the injured man was quickly transported to a clinic.

City Mayor Dominik Stadler immediately found out about the current situation at the scene. The police immediately launched a comprehensive search, which also involved the federal police. The perpetrator fled the scene but was later arrested. A knife that the suspect threw away during his escape has still not been found. Tag24 reports that these incidents are not isolated incidents, but are part of an alarming trend of violence among young people.

An increase in violent crime

The current police crime statistics show that violent crime in Germany rose by 1.5% in 2024. A total of 217,277 cases were registered - the highest level since 2007. What is particularly alarming is the increase of 11.3% in suspected children and 3.8% in young people. This increase in violence among young people shows that it is time to pay more attention to the causes and prevention of such acts.

The statistics also show that there were 29,014 knife attacks in Germany, over half of which were violent crimes. With the clearance rate of around 58%, there is still room for improvement. While drug-related crime has fallen significantly, combating violent crime and the problems associated with it remains an urgent task for the authorities. The **Federal Criminal Police Office** emphasizes that there is a clear need for action here in order to offer young people a secure future.

Such incidents not only raise questions about safety on the streets, but also urge that everyone involved - from parents to schools to social institutions - work closely together to prevent such acts and protect the well-being of children.
