St. Nicholas Day in Bebra: Festive storm despite rain and wind!
On St. Nicholas Day, December 8, 2025, numerous visitors flocked to the Bebra water tower despite the uncomfortable weather. The event, organized by the Feldbahn- und Eisenbahnfreunde Bebra e.V., offered a colorful program for guests big and small. Above all, the lovingly designed decoration and lighting of the area and the trains caught the eye and created a festive atmosphere. East Hesse News reports that the children from the “Rappelkiste” daycare center in Weiterode actively helped with the preparations and thus contributed their creativity.
A highlight of the event was the cozy kiosk, which served heavenly waffles and winter baked apple compote. The bratwurst from a local butcher was also very popular and enjoyed. There was a lot for the little guests to discover, while the adults enjoyed the culinary delicacies.
Guided tours and history in focus
A special attraction was the tour of the water tower, which offered insights into the history and significance of the building for Bebra. The topics of the tour include not only safety and communication in rail traffic, but also the 180-year history of the station. The 360-degree view from the top floor of the water tower was particularly exciting. Visitors were also able to admire an old station plan from 1946, which reflects the development of the station over the years.
The organizers, Eisenbahnfreunde Bebra e.V., have already announced the next day of travel on January 1, 2026, which will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Here, visitors can look forward to another guided tour at 3:30 p.m., field train rides and other delicacies such as mulled wine, waffles and bratwurst.
The event on St. Nicholas Day showed once again that a good knack for shared experiences is very popular and strengthens cohesion in the region.
