Rhönenergie Challenge: Thousands run for fun and community!
The 19th Rhönenergie Challenge run on June 14, 2025 was a complete success and moved thousands of sports fans to Fulda. The event, which took place in Fulda Rangstraße, was very popular and showed that the sense of community and the enthusiasm for sport were unbroken. The participants ran on a distance of around 6.8 kilometers, which led to the Rosenau outdoor pool, where they were received with great applause. At the last event in 2022, the Tegut team took first place with 4832.12 kilometers, followed by Jumo and the Fulda University. The most active companies and schools were also honored, with the Fulda University of Applied Sciences being at the top with 3390.65 kilometers. A highlight was the band contest, which was organized by the Mollenhauer music school. Here the “Shrang” winners were given a price of 1000 euros and the opportunity to appear in the Kreuz cultural center. Anyone who has witnessed the event will certainly confirm that the atmosphere was a real festival for everyone involved during the multitude of opportunities to participate and the colorful activities. In the background of this event, health promotion also plays a major role. The World Health Organization (WHO) underlines how important exercise is for a healthy life. It is recommended that adults plan for at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other health problems. According to Dr. Kremlin Wickramasinghe from the WHO, an important aspect, should integrate the sports associations in their programs.
