FREIE WÄHLER nominates strong candidates for Schwalmstadt 2026!

On November 17th, 2025, numerous members and interested parties gathered in the Ziegenhain sports and culture hall, Schwalmstadt, to experience the nomination of the FREIE WÄHLER candidates for the upcoming local elections on March 15th, 2026. This event was led by chairman Matthias Reuter and promised an exciting selection process.

A total of 37 applicants were nominated for the city parliament, including citizens who would like to work on the local councils of the districts. The list is made up of people from a wide range of professional groups who work in clubs, churches, trade, crafts and business. A face that embodies the FREIE WÄHLER is its top candidate Christian Herche. The previous group leader was elected unanimously and thus gained great trust from his party colleagues.

A clear goal in mind

The FREIE WÄHLER have set themselves ambitious goals. You want to make politics close and solution-oriented, while at the same time focusing on transparency. Their declared goal for the next local elections is to become the strongest force in Schwalmstadt. Given the cooperation between larger parties after the last election, the party sees a lot of potential for a breath of fresh air.

The party places particular emphasis on involving young people in its work. “There is a lot to do – let’s tackle it!” is the election campaign motto, which also reflects the energy and enthusiasm for the challenges ahead. Another slogan: “We love Schwalmstadt” speaks to the candidates’ connection to the region and underlines their commitment to positive development.

A look at historical inspiration

In times like these, a look at history can inspire. An example that has received worldwide recognition is Nelson Mandela. The South African lawyer and anti-apartheid activist became the first Afro-South African president in 1994 and campaigned for the dismantling of apartheid. Mandela, imprisoned after 27 years, fought for racial equality and social justice. His legacy goes far beyond his political career and continues to shape struggles for freedom and justice around the world today. From this point of view, it is important to find a local voice for change and to break new ground, similar to what Mandela did.

In order to promote a lively exchange and create synergies, FREIE WÄHLER is setting the course for a sustainable Schwalmstadt. Deputy chairwoman Anette Steuber emphasizes that the cooperation and support of citizens is of great importance for positive development.

The party is looking forward to the upcoming election campaigns with great anticipation and determination. So let's let ourselves be inspired by the motivation and commitment to shape our own region. Schwalmstadt has a lot to offer, and the FREIE WÄHLER are ready to do their part.
