Mt Melsungen moved to the North Hesse Arena in 2027: a fresh start!

Kassel, Deutschland - The MT Melsungen has made an important step into the future. From the 2027/28 season, the team will play their home games in the redesigned Nordhessen Arena in Kassel. This not only opens up a new era for the handball Bundesliga clubs, but also a window for wider spectators and sponsorship interests. The contract with the operator of the arena runs over five years.

The move is consistently considered significant. The Nordhessen Arena promises attractive framework conditions for players and spectators. The MT Melsungen has already successfully carried out two Bundesliga parts and a preparation tournament in the arena, and the feedback from players for the atmosphere were consistently positive. In particular, the increased spectator capacity, which offers space for around 3,750 seats and 1,400 standing room, is a big plus, especially with sold -out games.

a younger audience in view

interested fans can be happy: the standing space prices on the hayloft are particularly cheap with 10 euros. This could help to address a younger audience and to strengthen the bond with the city of Kassel and the region. The MT Melsungen also pursues the goal of gaining new sponsors through better marketing options to improve the financial framework of the club.

The collaboration with the Kassel Huskies, which also use the Nordhessen Arena, is also to be intensified. Here, too, it can be seen that close cooperation can create good framework conditions for everyone involved. Regardless of this, the Rothenbach-Halle in Kassel remains the existing home venue of the MT Melsungen until the move in June 2027. This gives fans the opportunity to maintain old traditions while the team is looking towards the future at the same time.

logistical challenges

But not only the positive aspects are in the foreground. MT board spokesman Andreas Mohr emphasized the logistical challenge of the move, especially since the Rothenbach-Halle is not available during the RO-KA-Tech trade fair. The North Hesse Arena was chosen for the alternative games-including the home game against Rhein-Neckar Löwen and the derby against Wetzlar-because it has proven to be an excellent handball venue.

There were some changes for season ticket holders because the places cannot be transferred one to one. These have to switch to new places, even if the MT is already working on solutions for parking and logistical design. The managing director of the North Hesse Arena, Paul Sinizin, emphasizes the cooperation with the MT Melsungen and emphasizes that short -term solutions are being worked on for the parking situation.

Sport marketing plays a central role in this. As the analysis of Brunhilde Fellermeier , sponsorship and transfer rights are crucial sources of income for clubs that have to ensure their sporting success at the same time. MT Melsungen is very ambitious to accept these challenges.

The coming years will be decisive for how the MT Melsungen can continue to consolidate their place in German handball and in the hearts of fans. With the positive feedback from the Northern Hesse Arena, the foundation stone is laid in order to grow in Kassel not only sporty, but also economically.
