FSV Frankfurt and KSV Kassel: Dramatic defeats in the top game!

On December 7, 2025, the regional football teams in Hesse showed an exciting picture, but not without setbacks for FSV Frankfurt and KSV Hessen Kassel. Both teams suffered bitter defeats that affected their table positions.

In the top game of the Regionalliga Südwest, FSV Frankfurt fell 3-1 in Großaspach. The encounter started promisingly for the visitors as Mourad scored the first goal in the 17th minute, putting Frankfurt ahead. But the joy didn't last long: Maier took a chance to equalize in the 39th minute. In the second half, the hosts turned the tables with a goal from Pollex in the 62nd minute and a late penalty from Tasdelen (84th minute). In the end, the Frankfurt team lost away in front of 1,243 spectators and remained fourth in the table, eight points behind leaders Freiberg. A small consolation is that it remains Frankfurt's third away win of the season, as they previously won 1-0 in Kassel, which ensured a successful start to the season, with already three wins from four games and a total of nine points in the bag, as [kicker] summarizes.

Helplessness in Kassel

The day didn't go any better for KSV Hessen Kassel. In a thrilling match against Sandhausen, the team lost 2:3. Elsamed Ramaj was the hero of the day for Kassel, who equalized with two goals (5th and 66th minute). But in the end, the decisive goal for Sandhausen came in the 89th minute from Halbauer, who dashed Kassel's hopes of winning a point. The game in the stadium saw a total of 2,242 spectators, and while Kassel fought well into the game, the team ultimately ended up in tenth place in the table. However, Sheffield's missed chances and the late goal could be seen as a warning signal for the second half of the season, where one can certainly expect more from KSV.

A ray of hope for Fulda-Lehnerz

Just a few kilometers away, in the relegation battle, Fulda-Lehnerz was able to score a much-needed victory. Against TSG Balingen, after falling behind by Pourie (50th minute), they managed to turn the game 2-1 with goals from Colic (90th minute) and Sarpei (90th minute). With this important victory, Fulda-Lehnerz climbed to 13th place in the table, a real boost in the relegation battle that was evident on this matchday. In front of 500 spectators it became clear how competitive the regional league is.

While OFC surprisingly won 3-1 against Mainz II and moved up to twelfth place, TSV Steinbach Haiger only managed a 2-2 draw in Walldorf. The battle for places in the table remains exciting, and the coming games promise to bring a few more surprises.
