Edertalschule celebrates 115 high school graduates: the future is getting closer!
Today was a very special day in Frankenberg: 115 students passed their Abitur at the Edertalschule. The ceremonial handover of the school leaving certificates took place in the festive atmosphere of the Frankenberg Culture Hall. Headmaster Markus Koch warmly congratulated the graduates and in his speech highlighted the challenges that the future brings, especially topics such as digitalization and artificial intelligence. These challenges are not only relevant for the newly graduated high school graduates, but also reflect the current trends on the labor market, as shown by the skilled workers monitoring of the BMAS, which analyzes future bottlenecks and needs in various professional groups.
Lisa Richter is particularly outstanding in this year, graduating with an impressive grade of 1.0. Lena Himmelmann and Lena Vaupel also earned an award with 1.1 each. The entire graduating class at the Edertalschule achieved an average grade of 2.42, which indicates a high level of motivation. Katrin Jakobi and Büsra Aras also entertained the audience with a humorous speech about their time at school, while Adrian Becker, the math tutor, praised the students' remarkable learning progress and the school's sense of community.
Congratulations from the city
The celebrations were accompanied by warm words of congratulations from First District Councilor Karl-Friedrich Frese and Mayor Barbara Eckes. They talked about the professional opportunities available to graduates after graduation. The combination of learned knowledge and practical skills could be crucial in view of the labor market developments, which, according to Fachkraftmonitoring, will be shaped by demographics, digitalization and decarbonization in the future.
Uli Mengel, chairman of the Edertalschule support association, recognized the efforts of the high school graduates and expressed his thanks to the parents. It was a moment of pride, not only for the graduates themselves, but also for the entire school community, which created support services and a good learning environment. Musical contributions from the orchestra, choir and big band ultimately put the crowning touch on the ceremony and ensured an unforgettable celebration.
In addition to these celebratory occasions, our education system faces challenges. As Fachkraftmonitoring shows, the labor market expects a persistent imbalance between supply and demand in the coming years. In particular, surpluses and bottlenecks in certain professional groups can make it difficult for many graduates to enter the world of work. It is estimated that around 618,000 people without degrees will enter the labor market over the next five years, while only 396,000 helper positions are available. These developments make it clear that today's high school graduates are well advised to continually expand their skills and knowledge to maximize their opportunities.
