Fraud in Frankenberg: 84-year-old loses 70 euros to brazen perpetrators!
Bottendorfer Straße, 35066 Frankenberg (Eder), Deutschland - A surprising incident occurred on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025, on Bottendorfer Strasse in Frankenberg (Eder). An 84-year-old man was the victim of a brazen theft when an unknown perpetrator pretended to be in need. According to hna the whole thing happened around 9:30 a.m. The perpetrator spoke broken German and asked the helpful senior to make a call.
The moment the senior took out his wallet to help, the unknown quickly and cleverly took the stock exchange from the hand of the older man. It was only later that he found that 70 euros were stolen in Scheinen. The police report that the perpetrator is about 40 years old, has a size of approx. 1.70 meters and has normal stature. He also had dark skin color, full black hair and was completely dressed in black.
Call of witnesses from the police
The police in Frankenberg take the incident very seriously and are now looking for witnesses who may have observed something suspicious. Information can be given directly to the Frankenberg police station on 06451/72030.
This incident is not the first of its kind in the region. In July 2022 there was already a similar fraud in Korbach, where a senior citizen of false police officers was brought to her savings. These callers also output themselves as police officers and warn of burglar gangs. In this case, a medium -sized five -digit amount of cash and jewelry was handed over to an unknown pick -up that never came back. The police in Korbach have so far not been able to determine suspects and therefore again appeals to the citizens of being vigilant.
Important tips for avoiding fraud
The police urge that you do not reveal any personal data or information about cash and valuables on the phone. It is advisable to cancel talks and, if in doubt, to choose the emergency number 110. Again and again it is also pointed out to the risk of "call-ID spoofing", in which criminals pretend to be a police by changing their phone number.
It is therefore important to stay attentive and in the given case to consult with relatives. Good and common sense often protects against trick fraudsters.
